This site measures how visitors use it, so I can see which pages are read and whether the site works well. There are no ads, no profiling and no tracking across other sites.

What is measured

  • which pages you view and how long your visit lasts;
  • which site referred you here;
  • your country (derived from your connection), browser, operating system and device type;
  • page load times and any errors on the site.

Your name, email address or other data that directly identifies you are not collected.

Cookies

For this measurement the site sets two first-party cookies: cwr_s for your visit, and cwr_u with a random number to count returning visitors (at most 30 days). Your browser also keeps data in its local storage for the connection to the measurement service. These analytics cookies have little impact on your privacy, so the site does not ask for consent. You can block or delete them in your browser at any time; the site keeps working.

Who processes the data

The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). To deliver the pages, AWS processes your IP address; no visitor logs are kept. The measurement uses Amazon CloudWatch RUM, also from AWS, acting as processor. The measurement data is stored in the AWS data centre in Frankfurt (Germany) and deleted automatically after 30 days. It is not shared with anyone and not used for advertising.

The measurement is based on legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): understanding how this site is used. Because no directly identifying data is collected, I usually cannot link the data to you.
